Description

THE AREAS OF DISCRIMINATION THAT THE LCHR COVERS ARE: EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING, AND PUBLIC ACCOMODATION. THE JOB OF THE COMMISSION IS TO: 1) INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS 2) SETTLE CASES, IF POSSIBLE 3) DETERMINE, AFTER INVESTIGATION, WHETHER THERE WAS DISCRIMINATION IN VIOLATION OF THE CITY OF LINCOLN ORDINANCES 4) ORDER REMEDIES IF THE COMPLAINANT PROVES AT A HEARING THAT DISCRIMINATION HAS OCCURRED. IT TAKES AN AVERAGE OF 6 MONTHS TO INVESTIGATE A COMPLAINT (FROM THE TIME OF FILING UNTIL RESOLUTION).
