CONSUMER-RUN, VOLUNTARY NOT-FOR-PROFIT STATEWIDE ASSOCIATION WITH CHAPTERS LOCATED IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT NEBRASKA. MHA-NE BRINGS TOGETHER SERVICE RECIPIENTS, FAMILIES, PROFESSIONALS, ADVOCATES AND CONCERNED CITIZENS TO ADDRESS ALL ASPECTS OF MENTAL HEALTH AND MENTAL ILLNESS. MAJOR GOALS INCLUDE PROMOTING MENTAL HEALTH, REDUCING THE STIGMA ASSOCIATED WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES, PREVENTING MENTAL DISORDERS AND MITIGATING THEIR EFFECTS THROUGH ADVOCACY, PUBLIC INFORMATION, RESEARCH AND SERVICE. HOPE PROGRAM (HIGHER OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH THE POWER OF EMPLOYMENT) - EMPLOYMENT SPECIALISTS MEET WITH INDIVIDUALS TO DEVELOP AN INDIVIDUALIZED EMPLOYMENT PLAN THAT MEETS THEIR INTERESTS AND DESIRES AND THEN HELPS TO ACHIEVE THAT GOAL. MUST BE SEEKING COMPETITIVE AND PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT. ALSO HELP IN UNDERSTANDING HOW GOING TO WORK MAY EFFECT STATE OR FEDERAL BENEFITS.
