BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION - NEBRASKA
Description
Works to enhance the quality of life for people with brain injury and their families, and advocates for prevention and care of brain injuries. It is the only statewide non-profit exclusively dedicated to brain injury in Nebraska. Serving the brain injury population means working to secure and develop community-based services, supporting support groups and access to pertinent information and medical resources and service referrals. It also means educating professionals who work with children and adults with brain injury. We provide: 1) Education-through extensive information about brain injury at conferences and training opportunities. 2) Outreach and Family Support-by providing resources for educators, employers, and service providers. Provide an 800 number that individuals with brain injury and their families can call for brain injury information and referrals. Connection to support groups that offer emotional healing, encouragement, education, socialization and confidence building. 3) Monthly newsletter 4) Public Awareness- through educating the public and increasing statewide awareness of brain injury as a serious disability with lifelong consequences and 5) Advocacy-to promote and advance the rights of people with brain injury. Represent their concerns through legislative efforts.
