NEBRASKA CRIME VICTIMS REPARATIONS PROGRAM
Description
A STATE OF NEBRASKA PROGRAM TO ASSIST INNOCENT VICTIMS OF CRIME WHO SUFFER BODILY HARM AND HAVE INCURRED A FINANCIAL LOSS AS A DIRECT RESULT OF A CRIMINAL ACT. MEDICAL EXPENSES (HOSPITAL, DR, DENTAL, PRESCRIPTIONS, ETC), LOSS OF WAGES, FUNERAL EXPENSES AND COUNSELING MAY BE PAID. MAXIMUM AWARD IS $10,000 PER INCIDENT. ANYONE INJURED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, UNLESS INJURY WAS INTENTIONALLY INFLICTED BY THE OPERATOR OR OFFENDER WAS CHARGED WITH DUI, WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE. ALSO ANYONE WHOSE CONDUCT CONTRIBUTED TO THE INJURIES OR WHO IS INJURED WHILE VIOLATING A LAW WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE.

Eligibility: INNOCENT VICTIM WHO SUFFERS BODILY INJURY FROM A CRIME. A DEPENDENT OR LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE OF AN INNOCENT VICTIM WHO HAS BEEN KILLED AS A RESULT OF CRIME. A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES OF A MINOR. A PERSON WHO IS INJURED WHILE AIDING A CRIME VICTIM OR ASSISTING A POLICE OFFICER. MUST REPORT CRIME TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY WITHIN 3 DAYS OF INCIDENT. MUST FILE A CLAIM WITHIN 2 YEARS OF DATE OF CRIME.
