VOLUNTEERS ASSISTING SENIORS (VAS)
Description
VAS IS AN ORGANIZATION WHICH UTILIZES THE SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION OF SENIORS (55 AND OVER) TO HELP OTHER SENIORS OBTAIN NEEDED SERVICES AND UNDERSTAND THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES AVAILABLE TO THEM UNDER THE LAW. ASSISTANCE WITH INSURANCE AND MEDICARE CLAIMS AND/OR PROBLEMS, CONSUMER FRAUD ISSUES, SOCIAL SECURITY, PERSONAL, FAMILY AND LEGAL PROBLEMS, UNDERSTANDING VARIOUS LAWS AND REGULATIONS AS THEY AFFECT YOUR PERSONAL SITUATION, VARIOUS SOCIAL SERVICES OFFERED IN THE COMMUNITY AND INFORMATION ON COMMUNITY SERVICES AVAILABLE TO HELP YOU (I.E., FOOD STAMPS, MEDICAID, HOUSING AVAILABILITY/OPTIONS, TRANSPORTATION SERVICES, ETC.) EASTERN NEBRASKA OFFICE ON AGING (ENOA) SUPPORTS VAS.
